Two Travellers, One Dawn Flight and a Shared Evening
Two people flying out at dawn share a room, an alarm and an evening. How a session for two is arranged the night before, and what to agree between you first.
Couples and friends who fly home together on an early departure often spend the last night in the same room near the airport. The evening is shared, the alarm is shared, and the question of how to spend the hours between dinner and sleep is one to settle together. A session for two is one answer, and it needs a little more planning than a booking for one.
Agree it first between you
The conversation that matters first happens before any message is sent. Both travellers need to want the booking, to be comfortable with the format, and to agree on the length. A session for two that one person is only half keen on rarely goes well, and the evening before a long flight is not the time to find that out. Both must also be twenty-one or over and present when she arrives.
One therapist or two
A couple can book one therapist between them, or a therapist each for twice the shared fee. With one therapist, the two guests usually take turns, and each effectively has half the time. With two, both are attended to at once, and an hour is an hour for each person. On a night with an early alarm, a therapist each for an hour often suits better than one therapist for two hours, because the session is over sooner and sleep comes earlier.
Working back from the alarm
The same arithmetic applies as for a solo traveller, counted from the slower of the two. Two people take longer to get ready in the morning than one, and two cases take longer to close. An alarm at four for a departure at twenty past six, lights out at ten, and a session finishing by half past eight leaves room for both to shower and settle. The page on the night before a dawn flight covers the timing in more detail.
Packing before she arrives
Two travellers packing on the last night can take an hour, and it should be done before the session, not after. Cases closed, passports together in one place, clothes for the morning laid out. The room then has space in it, and nobody is distracted by the thought of unpacked shoes.
What the room needs
A session for two with two therapists needs space for both, which is easier in a larger room. A standard double room near the airport can be tight. If you have the choice, a room with a sofa or a larger floor area makes the evening more comfortable. The thread may ask about the room size so that the arrangement works for everyone.
The deposit
Every booking at a room near the airport is confirmed with half the fee in advance, and two therapists at once also carries a deposit wherever the room is. For a couple with a therapist each for an hour, the fee splits evenly, one half sent before she sets out and one half at the door. The cancellation policy sets out what happens if the flight moves.
If only one of you wants it on the night
Plans change. If one traveller decides on the evening that they would rather sleep, tell the thread as soon as possible. While she has not yet set out, the booking can be changed to one guest, and the figures recalculated. Once she is on her way, the change is read on the notice scale like a cancellation sent at that moment, and the deposit already paid is kept.
Settling up at the door
The balance for a session for two is settled at the door, as for any other booking, in one payment for the whole arrangement. Agree between yourselves beforehand who handles it, so that the start of the evening is not spent working it out. The exact figure is confirmed in writing in the thread before she sets out, which removes any doubt on the night.
Her limits, and theirs
With two guests and possibly two therapists in the room, the conversation at the start matters more. Each therapist decides what her session includes and sets out her limits before it begins, and those limits hold throughout. Either therapist may decline or close a visit at any point.
A shared evening before a dawn flight is a good way to end a trip together, as long as it is planned together. Agree it between you, count back from the alarm, and let the rest be arranged in the thread. The couples massage page describes the format.
